SEL CORE SKILL 4 ?Relationship Skills? – TPSR LEVEL IV ?Leadership?

Description of the activity:

General presentation to introduce the theoretical framework of SEL and TPSR

Then, SEL theoretical framework for competency 4 ?Relationship Skills? along with TPSR theoretical framework for level IV ?Leadership? was presented and further analyzed. Experiential learning through the curricula of Drama in Education (DE) and Physical Education (PE) was also presented and discussed. Two project workshops entitled ?SEL through DE – Relationship Skills? and ?SEL through PE – TPSR Level IV/Leadership? were held. Special focus on non-verbal ?communication? and the Deaf people international sign language was made.

Local and visiting teachers (of several specialties) participated actively in the above experiential workshops.

Dissemination activities included debriefing with local authorities.

Local monuments and museums were visited and discovered through the DE technique of ?still images?.

How did the participation in this activity benefit the involved participants?

Elaborate lesson plans relevant to the topics of the two workshops were developed and implemented in practice in order to facilitate students? SEL competencies and RESPONSIBILITY levels through Drama in Education techniques and TPSR strategies respectively. Continuous virtual and interactive feedback from the coordinator and the partners regarding exchange of practical information facilitated the whole process. Proper adaptation of lesson plans could navigate teachers to integrate them in their daily teaching practices. Several teaching philosophy perspectives and teaching styles and ?tricks?/strategies were adopted in practice to empower students and facilitate development of life skills of relationships. In addition, ?bridges? with the Deaf community were built and an attempt was made to incorporate sign language in daily teaching strategies within the frame of non-verbal communication.
