SEL theoretical framework – DE/PE experiential learning – SEL CORE SKILLS 1 ?Self-Awareness? and 2 ?Self-Management? – TPSR LEVELS I ?Respect? and II ?Effort/Cooperation?

Description of the activity:

SEL theoretical framework (competencies 1 ?Self-Awareness? and 2 ?Self-Management?) along with TPSR theoretical framework (levels I ?Respect? and II ?Effort/Cooperation) was presented and further analyzed. Experiential learning through the curricula of Drama in Education and Physical Education was also presented and discussed. Four project workshops entitled ?SEL through PE – TPSR Level I?, ?SEL through DE – Self-Awareness?, ?SEL through PE – TPSR Level II?, and ?SEL through DE – Self-Management? respectively were organized/held. Local and visiting teachers (of several specialties) participated actively in the above experiential workshops.

How did the participation in this activity benefit the involved participants?

Elaborate lesson plans relevant to the topics of the four workshops were developed and implemented in practice in order to facilitate students? SEL competencies and RESPONSIBILITY levels through Drama in Education techniques and TPSR strategies. Proper adaptation of lesson plans could navigate teachers to integrate them in their daily teaching practices. Several teaching philosophy perspectives and teaching styles and ?tricks?/strategies were adopted in practice to empower students and facilitate life skills development. In addition, students? SEL and RESPONSIBILITY were evaluated/assessed through self-report, observation, and self-reflection.
